When I need a helping hand,

Pressed flowers part two

Even a small courtyard garden can yield a wide range of flowers & foliage to press.

Press flower is an art which I can explain all of its secrets in three lines,

Materials Needed:

*Your favorite flowers or foliage picked and ready to press

*A large phone book or dictionary

*A sheet of newspaper

*More books or heavy objects - about 20 lbs. worth

Instructions:

Step 1.) After picking your favorite flowers and foliage, put them in the refrigerator or an ice chest to keep them from wilting while you prepare your pressing materials.

Step 2.) Place the flowers or foliage on the inside fold of the sheet of newspaper. Make sure there is no overlapping of leaves, petals, stems, etc... and fold the top half of the newspaper sheet down over the flowers.

Step 3.) Open the dictionary or phone book and place the newspaper in the middle at about letter M.

Step 4.) Close the dictionary and place the other books or heavy objects on top.

The drying process takes about 3 days. Once the flowers are pressed and dry you can use them in arrangements, art work, as gifts, whatever you like. It's a little more than three line but still short.

Pressed flowers are not as beautiful as fresh flowers ,but as we know that fresh flowers will only last for a short while,a moment in time.we can use pressed flowers for capturing that moments in time and preserve it in a picture where it will always be able to jump start a memory.I am sorry that I did not press my wedding bouquet .But I have pressed leaves from a memorable holiday,I always enjoy looking at them.

I am trying to create a harmonious color scheme for a room,calm and comfortable.

A calm, neutral color scheme, allows natural elements like wood, stone and fabric to impart richness and contrast into this cozy interior.

Neutral colors primarily consist of a selection grays, beiges, tans, creams and taupe. These colors generally work with most other colors making them excellent choices as background colors for walls and ceilings. In this manner, more vibrant color choices can be executed in the interior in the form of fabrics, draperies and curtains, rugs and carpets, objects, furniture and accessories like throw-pillows, lamp shades and pictures or paintings.
